Llandudno will have no water!

Llandudno will have no water!

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will be commencing with another component of its pipe replacement programme in Llandudno, in order to address the issue of ageing water supply infrastructure in the area.

This will necessitate shutting off the water supply to most of the properties in Llandudno between 09:00 and 17:00 on Thursday 10 March.

As is the case with most projects of this nature, the City uses trenchless technology which requires minimal excavation. This minimizes the inconvenience to residents.

Residents are kindly requested to store water in clean, sealed containers for domestic consumption during this period.

A potable water tanker will be positioned in Llandudno Road, within the parking lot opposite the school, should there be a need for additional drinking water.

All taps should be kept closed for the duration of this shut-off to prevent any water losses, wastage or damage being caused if no one is at home when the water supply is restored.

The City wishes to apologize for the inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that we maintain our water supply infrastructure to ensure that we consistently provide our consumers with a good quality drinking water.

Hout Bay residents urged to wear pink to Suikerbossie

Cape Town is buzzing as it gears up for one of its biggest annual events, the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour. Suikerbossie one of the races most prominent spots on the route for spectators to gather and watch the cyclists race past will have a slightly different twist this year; It is going PINK. All Hout Bay residents and their families are invited to wear pink and join in on the fun and action on Suikerbossie.

From the intersection (traffic lights) of Victoria Road and Helgarda Road, Suikerbossie will be turned into a ‘climb4cancer’ where various breast cancer NGO’s under the PinkDrive umbrella will collaborate in an aim to highlight the fight against cancer in a festive and uplifting environment.

The PinkDrive mammography truck which was officially launched in Cape Town in February will be parked at Suikebossie, trees will be wrapped in pink and there will be various activities for supporters as they cheer on cyclists taking part in one of the toughest climbs of the race.

Smooth road ahead for Chapman’s Peak Drive

Smooth road ahead for Chapman’s Peak Drive

Taken from eyewitnessnews.co.za/Graeme Raubenheimer

Western Cape Transport MEC Robin Carlisle believes the new contract with Entilini Concessions will ensure the smooth management of Chapman’s Peak Drive for years to come.

He co-signed the amended deal with Entilini’s directors on Tuesday.

Capetonians should expect a new toll plaza on the Hout Bay side of Chapman’s Peak in the near future as a result.

Carlisle said the previous contract was seriously flawed.

“We have renegotiated the contract. It’s changed the whole nature from an adversarial contract to one in which we are both partners – partners not only in responsibility for the pass, but partners also financially,” he said.

Entilini director Enzo Menegaldo said they are excited about the road ahead.

“I know it may sound cliché, but there is a partnership now. We will be working together with the province on a lot of the decisions that will happen on Chapman’s Peak, which is a good thing. I think it can only be a better situation for the pass.”
