Paying for the “day pass” on Chapmans Peak, Hout Bay

There has been a discussion happening on HBO in connection with the paying for the Chapmans Peak “day pass”.

790Tv called the Entillini manager in Hout Bay and was told the following:

During daylight hours, the “day pass” is free. However once the sun has set one has to pay for the “day pass”. This is not a new policy but has been in existence since the toll-booths were set up. There are signs on the toll-booths explaining this.

The reason this was implemented, was due to the fact that people were abusing the system. People were taking a “day pass”, and driving all the way through after sunset or before sunsrise. The times during which the control point is unmanned.
